IndiMex Open for Business – and Yummy Food – during the Brisbane G20

Yep, you bet we’ll be open during the Brisbane G20 Summit! We can’t let our amigos go hungry, now can we?!

G20 dreams of hosting Indian and Mexican leaders

Naturally, we’re particularly excited about Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto attending the upcoming G20 Summit. How we would LOVE to host them for a satisfying meal at IndiMex!! (We won’t hold our breath … but we can dream!!)

In any case, we’re looking forward to being open and feeding hungry customers every day throughout the G20 Summit here in Brisbane. Being located at Greenslopes, our immediate vicinity won’t be affected by road closures but it’s kind of inevitable that it’ll be a little challenging to move around inner city suburbs for a few days. Nonetheless, you can still drop in and enjoy a scrumptious IndiMex meal for breakfast, lunch and dinner, or any time during the day for coffee or a snack. We open at 8am daily and you can park for two hours for free in Stones Corner Village (entry via Cleveland St).

G20 Brisbane dates

In case the news hasn’t quite reached you, the dates for the G20 Summit in Brisbane are:

  • Friday 14th November (public holiday)
  • Saturday 15th November
  • Sunday 16th November

Roads

The G20 website states: “Limited road closures will be in place in inner Brisbane from Monday 10 November and there will be considerable delays to motorists from 7:00pm Thursday 13 November to late Sunday 16 November.”

How exciting for Brisbane!!

As a hospitality business, we at IndiMex are particularly delighted that the G20 will be hosted in Brisbane. Yes, we know, we know. It’s going to be a bit inconvenient and there is of course, the fear that some crazy goings-on could occur, but consider this: the G20 has given us our absolute best training ever for untoward events that could happen in our beautiful city. We’re ready more than ever before in our history!

Meanwhile, around 4,000 delegates including some of the world’s most powerful movers and shakers will be able to speak with at least some authority on what they saw, heard, smelled and tasted here in Brisbane. And THAT’S what’s good for our city. And don’t forget the more than three thousand domestic and international media personnel who will be looking to fill their tummies, enjoy a wind-down drink and catch a few sights around town.

A much-needed boost for Brisbane’s hospitality businesses

The hospitality industry often struggles under the weight of so many variables … a fluctuating economy, saturation point in dining precincts, trending tastes, wildly rising costs, highly transient staff, insurance costs and heavy competition. We feel the G20 is going to be wonderful, not just for the few days that it’s underway but so that all these attendees – world leaders, their entourages and the media – will have loads to go away and say about us.

And it’s not only Brisbane’s CBD or even just our suburbs that will benefit. It’s expected that the Sunshine and Gold Coasts and even hinterland areas will also experience visits from curious media folks. And some leaders will be speaking at events in Sydney and other major centres.

Countries attending
